The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) joined representatives From QDVC & Bin Omran JV to open a partial section of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route, Contract 2 (NOH2) project in April at the new main bridge over Dukhan Highway interchange.

The QDVC-Bin Omran Joint Venture has completed the construction of the first significant milestone for the project, allowing functional use of approximately 18km of the highway from North of Salwa Road to Dukhan Highway.

This functional use provides three lanes of traffic in both directions (North & South) on the newly constructed main carriageway from the limit of works with the New Orbital Highway Contract 3 (near Salwa Road) to Junction 4 Main Bridge (Dukhan highway).

This partial handing over is the first in the series to be done until the project completion in the year 2018.

The New Orbital Highway Contract 2 has made significant progress in transforming a barren desert into an efficient road system which will ease traffic flow between Doha Port and Ras Laffan in conjunction with the three other NOH Contracts.
